Victims and Witnesses
We want victims and witnesses to feel fully supported during their criminal justice journey in Northumbria, through a victim-focused approach that incorporates lived experience to provide co-ordinated end-to-end care.
Effective criminal justice for Northumbria
Our priorities for an effective criminal justice system in Northumbria.

There are three LCJB subgroups which deliver the work on behalf of the board.

We want victims and witnesses to feel fully supported during their criminal justice journey in Northumbria, through a victim-focused approach that incorporates lived experience to provide co-ordinated end-to-end care.

We want to deliver early intervention strategies with offenders to divert them from the criminal justice system, maximising the opportunity to prevent reoffending and deliver timely outcomes for victims, including through Integrated Offender Management and Out of Court Resolutions.

We want the timely and effective progression of cases through the criminal justice system, increasing confidence and delivering swift outcomes for victims.

Domestic Abuse is a cross-cutting theme in all of our work, with time-limited groups focusing on specific issues such as a Domestic Abuse Retention Plan.
